The day is quickly approaching....Oceanwide Expeditions announced that its new Hondius is on schedule and is set to sail from Split, Croatia, on its maiden voyage. The Hondius has completed its extensive series of sea trials, achieved speeds, and all systems are exceeding expectations, the company said, in a statement. The Hondius has the honor of being the world’s first-registered/certified Polar Class 6 vessel.
This ships is expected to sails from Croatia to Vlissingen, Netherlands, where the Oceanwide Expeditions headquarters is located. A christening ceremony is scheduled for June 1.
After reaching Vlissingen, the Hondius will set out on its first expedition cruise on June 3 to Scotland, Spitzenberg and more. The Hondius will continue the summer season with some of the most popular Arctic voyages.
The Hondius is a boutique exploration ship that will carry 174 passengers in 82 staterooms. measure 353 feet in length, 57.75feet wide and weighs 5,590 tons.
