Pictured Sister ship of the Spirit of Adventure / Spirit of Discovery Saga marked the keel laying of its second new cruise ship for the British market, Spirit of Adventure, with a ceremony at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany on Monday, June 3rd. The 999-passenger ship will set sail in summer 2020 and the keel laying marked the official start of construction. A commemorative coin stamped with Spirit of Adventure’s name, keel-laying date and the lettering S715 – denoting the identification marker for the ship during her build and until she is formally handed over by Meyer Werft to Saga in summer 2020 – was placed under the first block in the dry dock where a total of 54 blocks will be used to create the 58,250 gross tons ship. Carnival Cruises' Carnival VIsta is Loaded On The Floating Drydock for Azipod Repairs.

Two videos have been released showing the positioning of the Carnival Vista on the floating drydock - Bokis Vanguard off the coast of the Bahamas. The 135,000 ton cruise ship was gently moved into position on the submerged drydock on July 12/13th. After being secured in place, water was pumped out of the floating drydock raising the Carnival Vista out of the water. Repairs to the ships' azipods will occur over the next 2 weeks, after which  the ship will be removed from the drydock. After floating again the Carnival Vista will return to Galveston, Texas on 7-27-2019 to resume her 7-day cruise program. The Carnival Vista is a new ship which entered the Carnival Fleet in 2016, but has been plagued with power and propulsion issues over the past 4 weeks. Arctech Shipyard Helsinki Finland Re-enters the Cruise Market with the Order of 2 exploration Cruise Ships Helsinki Shipyard — once a leading builder of cruise ships has signed an agreement for two luxury expedition vessels. The order is from Vodohod Ltd., Russia’s largest river cruise company and an affiliate of the yard’s new owners. The plans include Vodohod entering the deep-sea exploration cruise market by placing the vessels on charter to unidentified operators. The 148-passenger vessels are expected to sail in the Arctic, Antarctica and the tropics. Planned delivery is August 2021 and January 2022. The price was not disclosed. Design work is underway. The vessels will measure approximately 110 meters in length and 20 meters at the beam, with Polar Class 6 designation. Maximum crew capacity will be 110. Carnival Cruise Line announced today that Netherlands-based Boskalis, a worldwide leader in marine solutions, will deploy a transport vessel as a first of its kind “floating dry dock” facility to complete the repairs to Carnival Vista’s two azipods, the ship’s main propulsion system.
