Construction of Havila Kystruten's New Ships in Spain has been Temporarily Placed on Hold

News out of Spain says that work has temporarily stopped in 2 cruise ships being built for Havila Kystruten by Spanish shipbuilder Hijos de J. Barrera. The two ships are being built for the Norwegian Coastal Market in an agreement with the Norwegian Government. The ships are supposed to be LNG powered and "Green Ships" once completed.

The issue is supposedly around the ship's draft and weight - which can negatively impact the speed of the vessels and fuel consumption. Reports indicate that the shipyard has offered a number of solutions to the problem and is awaiting a decision from Havila.

There are two addition vessels being constructed in Turkey and those ships are reportedly on schedule.
